So yesterday one of my mates (we'll just call her Jessie) told me a story that I knew I had to share with you. She's both a proud new mom and a proud new Garage Gym owner and this was her defining moment:
"It was one of those moments where you go from semi-engaged in a not-so-engaging conversation, to frowning, then looking up from your oh-so-important phone screen, staring at your fellow interlocutor with a "say what now" expression on your face;...
...to a completely "how have I never thought of this before" lightbulb moment, where your fleeting dazed expression turns to a "this is incredible; it's going to be revolutionary... I need to tell the whole world about this!" expression, filled with wonder and admiration for this new found, brilliant idea.
I had been busy exclaiming to my friend how I just couldn't seem to make the progress I wanted to with my Strength Training program.
He asked me why.
I said "Well, it's mainly because I don't get to the gym often enough. You know, I have a kid now."
He looked at me as if I was stupid. Then he said,
"Why don't you work out at home?"
I blinked. "What with?"
"Buy your own equipment! It's not that hard. In fact it's so much easier."
BOOM. That was my lightbulb moment. Why didn't I workout at home?
I spent thousands of dollars on a gym subscription every year for the use of a gym that I hardly ever went to. It was 10 minutes across town (without traffic), constantly filled with sweaty, smelly loud gym junkies who hogged the strength training equipment, and those uneducated "skinny fat" people who would spend hours on the treadmill trying to "lose belly fat".
Not to mention the fact that the music was trash, the showers were as clean as public showers are gonna get, (not very clean), the changing rooms were always full, and privacy was something that was just too much to ask of the place.
I didn't hate going there, but I didn't enjoy it either. If I was going to make any form of progress I knew I needed a totally different approach to working out. A new environment, a new mindset, and a new sense of commitment.
When I found Powerhouse Fitness and bought my own gear, everything changed. Gone were the days of having to find a babysitter 3 or 4 times a week just so I could workout. Gone were the days of finding and paying for a parking spot. Gone were the days of working out in less than "less than ideal" circumstances. The list just goes on and on and on.
I am the proud new owner of my very own Iron Kingdom and I couldn't be happier. It's a lifetime investment that is truly 100% worth it. In the first 6 weeks of having my own garage gym, I have broken more PR's than ever before, and feel miles better physically and mentally than I ever have in my life. I'm now excited about working out. I actually want to train. I believe that anyone who is serious about getting real results should do the same, and invest in their own Garage Gym."
So that's Jessie's story. What's yours? Have you already had your defining moment? Or are you about to make the change?
Be the smart person we know you are. Make the decision that will change your life for good.
